Carolyn is a self-taught polymer
clay artist; she has been addicted to the medium for over 10 years.
She works with clay at least 5 days a week for more hours than she
cares to admit! Carolyn makes far more millefiori canes than she
can use, so she started a website: www.carolynsclaycreations.com
to sell her excess canes, share tutorials and other information.
Carolyn was the president of the Greater Atlanta Polymer Clay Guild
for two years and has been an active member for many more. In addition
to teaching at Wild Acres and William Holland, she travel teaches
for different organisations, at meetings of the Greater Atlanta
Polymer Clay Guild and in her home.
CLASS DESCRIPTION
In the Kaleidoscope or Flower
Cane Class you will create several polymer clay Kaleidoscope canes
or flower canes. We begin by mixing clay to create a personal color
palette. We will use these colors to create blends; from these blends
we will make component canes and assemble Kaleidoscope Canes or
flower canes. I will teach you how to use these canes to cover items,
make beads and other pieces to create one of a kind jewelry. This
is a technique based class, not a production class. We will do a
few projects during the week but this is not the main focus of this
class.
Extra
clay and supplies will be available for purchase during the week
if needed. We will be using KATO polyclay during the week; it is
the best clay to make canes. If you bring extra clay please bring
KATO, it bakes at 300 degrees and all items will be baked together
in the same oven at 300 degrees.
You
do not have to bring anything with you to class if you dont
want to, I will have everything you need, but if you have a pasta
machine, tools, supplies, items that you want to cover, bring them!
This is great too!
CLASS FEE - $100 - Each
student will receive a kit that will include clay to make approx.
8 canes, a clay blade, mini acrylic rod and a few other tools to
use during class and take home at the end of the week. I will provide
many tools and supplies to use during class.
